Kansas City, MO (June 18, 2020) – This morning the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that the Trump Administration’s attempt to dismantle the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program was done illegally. Missouri Democratic Party Executive Director Lauren Gepford released the following statement:

“Take time today to celebrate the victory of humanity over hate. While the Supreme Court admonished the President’s illegal scheme to take aim at the rights of Dreamers, we must continue to fight for a system that’s worthy of this nation of immigrants, securing a pathway to citizenship.

Dreamers are members of our communities, they’re our neighbors, our friends, our loved ones. They are building a better America. Nearly 30,000 Dreamers are working in health care, fighting COVID to make America safe. The Trump administration’s attempts to take away the only place they’ve ever known shows the consistent inhumanity of this administration.”
