Greitens Rubs “Salt in the Wounds” of Working Families to Impress Scott Walker, Big Money Donors

Gov. Eric Greitens is rubbing salt in the wounds of Missouri’s working families.

After Republicans in Jefferson City recently voted in favor of a bill to slash local minimum wage increases, Eric Greitens held a bill signing ceremony in St. Louis County yesterday to highlight the anti-worker legislation.

Greitens had Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker on hand.

As if advancing his wage-lowering agenda wasn’t enough, Eric Greitens invited Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker to the event, who is known nationally for his anti-worker agenda. Walker is also the Chair of the Republican Governors Association, which is the national Republican organization that held the “corporate policy summit” at a Trump resort in Miami that Eric Greitens attended earlier this month.

House Minority Leader Gail McCann Beatty criticized Greitens, telling the Kansas City Star: “Stripping union workers of the ability to negotiate for fair wages and provide a decent living for their families won’t create a single job or strengthen Missouri’s economy. To the contrary, the Governor’s action today makes life much harder for thousands of Missouri families.”

“After the Republican establishment in Jefferson City voted to slash the minimum wage, Eric Greitens is rubbing salt in the wounds of working families by celebrating another attack on their paychecks. Scott Walker’s invitation only serves to show that Greitens is attacking local workers in order to impress big money and corporate donors from around the country.”
