Kansas City, MO (October 26, 2020)  Today, after Senate Republicans pushed Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s confirmation through the Senate, a mere eight days before the General Election, Missouri Democratic Party Acting Chair Clem Smith released the following statement:

“For all the non-answers Judge Amy Coney Barrett has given, there’s an issue we know exactly where she stands. We’ve got a written track record of her disagreeing with the Supreme Court’s decision that upheld the Affordable Care Act.”

“It speaks volumes that the Republicans in the Senate have failed to live up to their past words, rushing through a nominee eight days before an election, and one who will have a hand in dismantling the Affordable Care Act at a time when Missourians are suffering through a continued health and economic pandemic. Republicans have long said they have a plan. But it’s been four years and we’ve yet to see any comprehensive plan that will actually help Missourians. The ability to get affordable healthcare, protections for patients with pre-existing conditions, those are the reasons Missourians will be supporting Joe Biden on November 3rd.”
