New Report: GOP’s Last-Ditch Attempt to Overhaul Healthcare Would Have ‘Same Harmful Consequences’ as Previous Repeal Attempts

COLUMBIA, Mo. – A new report from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities is revealing that the latest attempt from Republicans in the U.S. Senate to overhaul healthcare “would have the same harmful consequences” for seniors and working families as the other healthcare repeal attempts that failed earlier this year.

The report details that the GOP’s last-ditch healthcare overhaul, “would cause many millions of people to lose coverage, radically restructure and deeply cut Medicaid, eliminate or weaken protections for people with pre-existing conditions, and increase out-of-pocket costs for individual market consumers.”

“Make no mistake, this secretive and last-ditch plan from Republicans in DC is just another harmful healthcare overhaul that would spike costs for seniors and gut protections for Missourians who’ve been sick before and have a pre-existing health condition,” added Missouri Democratic Party Chair Stephen Webber. “Republican officeholders need to stop trying to take healthcare away from working families and instead work toward open and bipartisan solutions.”
