COLUMBIA, Mo. — One year ago, Missouri Rising launched a Super PAC with the explicit purpose of electing Josh Hawley to the U.S. Senate. Hawley — a Citizens United-endorsed candidate — supports unlimited dark money in politics, allowing his donors to remain in the shadows while Hawley does their bidding.
Over the last year, Hawley has made it clear that his billionaire donors and dark money special interest backers are the ones calling the shots in his Senate campaign. Before coming clean to Missourians about his decision to run, Hawley flew down to Washington, DC to consult with dark money special interest groups. Since then, such outside groups have flooded Missouri with over $14 million to prop up Hawley’s lackluster campaign.
“Dark money special interests have already spent over $14 million in a desperate attempt to buy Missouri’s Senate seat for Josh Hawley. But no matter how much these groups spend, Missourians know the truth — Hawley is just a typical politician who breaks his promises and puts his donors first.”
