COLUMBIA, Mo. – With less than 48 hours until polls open, workers across Missouri are ready to stand up and reject Josh Hawley for his record of repeatedly siding with corporate bosses over hardworking Missourians.
“From opposing a minimum wage increase to supporting out of touch Right-to-Work-for-less legislation and a tax bill that enriched wealthy stockholders and Big Pharma at the expense of middle class families, Josh Hawley has shown that he will always stand with his big money, special interest donors over Missouri workers.”
Missouri Democratic Party Deputy Communications Director Brooke Goren
Here’s a look at Josh Hawley’s record of supporting policies that hurt working Missourians:
Hawley stood with his billionaire donors as they spent hundreds of thousands of dollars trying to weaken workers’ rights to collectively bargain in Missouri. The backward Right-to-Work-for-less ballot initiative was overwhelmingly defeated by Missouri voters in August — including by nearly half of the Republican primary electorate.
Hawley opposes Proposition B, an initiative on the November ballot to raise the minimum wage, even calling it “out of the mainstream.”
In fact, as far back as when Hawley was a student at Rockhurst, an elite private high school, he has opposed the idea of a minimum wage.
- Hawley supported the 2017 Republican tax bill, which has overwhelmingly enriched wealthy corporate investors and big pharmaceutical companies, while failing to raise wages for American workers.
